Amy Johnson, M.D.
Dr. Amy Johnson is a native Dallasite, growing up in the Lake Highlands area. She graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Southern Methodist University in 1997 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and a minor in Spanish. She became interested in medicine while doing a service project in Nigeria just after graduation. She completed a post-baccalaureate pre-medical program at Bryn Mawr College, then obtained her medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School. After graduating from medical school, Dr. Johnson relocated to Asheville, NC for a residency in Family Medicine at the Mountain Area Health Education Center. Returning to Dallas in 2008, she worked in urgent care and a local house call practice. In 2013 she completed a fellowship in Geriatric Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. After fellowship, Dr. Johnson stayed on as faculty at UT Southwestern, teaching Geriatrics to medical students and residents. While practicing geriatrics, Dr. Johnson discovered a passion for wound care. She joined Wound Integrity in 2018 as Medical Director at City Hospital at White Rock Wound Care Center.
Dr. Johnson is board-certified in Family Medicine and Geriatric Medicine. She is a member of the American Geriatrics Society, the American Academy of Family Practice, the Texas Medical Association and the Dallas County Medical Society.
Dr. Johnson loves to read and to see movies. But she and her husband, Derek, spend most of their free time wrangling sons Holmes (5 years old) and Gus (2 years old) and their four dogs!
